PNB Bank LBO Selection Process 2026

The selection process for PNB Local Bank Officer consists of four key stages: Online Examination, Screening, Language Proficiency Test (LPT), and Personal Interview. Candidates must qualify each stage to move to the next. The final selection will be based on a merit list prepared by combining scores from the Online Exam and Interview in an 80:20 ratio.

Stage 1: Online Examination

The first stage is a Computer-Based Online Examination comprising five sections: Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis & Interpretation, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and General/Economy/Banking Awareness. A total of 150 questions are asked for 150 marks with sectional timings of 3 hours. Candidates must score minimum qualifying marks—35% for reserved and 40% for unreserved categories—in each section. There’s also a penalty of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. Only candidates who clear this stage will be called for the Screening Test.

Screening Test:

Candidates who qualify the Online Written Test will undergo document screening to verify their eligibility before the Language Proficiency Test (if applicable) and Personal Interview. Candidates found ineligible or submitting incorrect or false documents will have their candidature cancelled.

Language Proficiency Test (LPT)

Candidates who qualify the screening test must appear for the LPT to prove their reading, writing, and speaking skills in the local language of the state they applied for. This stage is crucial, as failing in LPT will lead to disqualification from the selection process. However, candidates who have studied the local language in Class 10 or 12 and have the relevant certificate/marksheet are exempted from appearing for the LPT.

Personal Interview

Those who clear the Online Examination and qualify the LPT will be invited for the Personal Interview round. Here, the bank assesses the candidate’s communication skills, confidence, and domain knowledge. Minimum qualifying marks for the interview will be decided by the bank. This stage plays a key role in the final selection as it contributes 20% to the final merit score.

Final Selection

The final merit list will be prepared by combining the candidate's scores in the Online Examination (80% weightage) and Personal Interview (20% weightage). Selection will be done on a state-wise and category-wise basis, and only top-ranking candidates in the merit list will be appointed as Local Bank Officers. Results for each stage will be published on the bank’s official website.
