What are the eligibility criteria for SBI Clerk (Junior Associate) 2026? 

Candidates planning to apply for the SBI Clerk / Junior Associate Recruitment 2026 must satisfy the prescribed eligibility criteria concerning age, educational qualification, nationality, and local language proficiency. Indian citizen are eligible to apply, while candidates belonging to other permitted nationality categories must meet the specified requirements and submit valid eligibility certificate issued by the Government of India, wherever applicable. 

• Citizen of India: Eligible to apply 

• Subject of Nepal: Eligible with required government certificate 

• Subject of Bhutan: Eligible with required government certificate 

• Tibetan Refugee: A Tibetan refugee who entered India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in the country may be eligible to apply. 

• Person of  Indian Origin: A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India may also be eligible, subject to the prescribed conditions.

SBI Clerk Age Limit 2026 

Candidates applying for SBI Clerk Recruitment 2026 must meet the prescribed age limit as on 01 April 2026. The candidate should be at least 20 years old and not more than 28 years old, meaning the date of birth must fall between 02nd April 1998 and 01st April 2006, with both dates inclusive.

SBI Clerk Age Relaxation 

Candidates belonging to reserved categories can avail of upper age limit relaxation as per the applicable Government of India guidelines. The relaxation will be granted according to the category-wise rules prescribed for SBI banking recruitment, subject to the required eligibility conditions and documents.

• SC/ST - 05 years 

• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) - 03 years 

• PwBD - 10 years 

• Ex-Servicemen / Disabled Ex-Servicemen - Service Period + 3 years (as per applicable rules) 

• Widows/Divorced/Legally Separated Women - 7 years, subject to a maximum age of 35 years for General/EWS, 38 years for OBC, and 40 years for SC/ST candidates. 

• Trained SBI Apprentices - 1 year for General/EWS, 4 years for OBC, 6 years for SC/ST, 11 years for PwBD (General/EWS), 14 years for PwBD (OBC), and 16 years for PwBD (SC/ST). 

SBI Clerk Educational Qualification 2026 

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in any discipline (Arts/Science/Commerce) from a recognised university/ institute accepted by the Government of India. The degree must be completed on or before 31st December 2026, and candidates should have a valid marksheet or degree certificate as proof of graduation. Final-year students and candidates with an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) may also apply provisionally, subject to fulfilling the prescribed qualification deadline and document requirements. 

• Minimum Qualification: Graduation in any discipline or equivalent qualification.

• Recognised Institution: Degree must be from a university/institution recognised by the Government of India or an equivalent qualification accepted by the Central Government. 

• Graduation Status: Candidates must complete graduation on or before 31st December 2026 and have a valid marksheet, degree or provisional certificate.

• Graduation Percentage: SBI does not prescribe any minimum graduation percentage.

• Local Language: Candidates must be proficient in the specified local language of the State/UT applied for.

• Final-Year Students: Final-year/semester students can apply provisionally, subject to passing graduation by 31st December 2026.  

SBI Clerk Graduation Percentage 

Candidates are required to have completed graduation in any discipline from a recognised university or possess an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government. The SBI Clerk 2026 notification does not mention any minimum percentage requirement in graduation. Therefore, candidates are eligible based on the required graduation qualification, subject to fulfilling the other prescribed eligibility conditions.

• Minimum Percentage: No minimum graduation percentage prescribed.

• Qualification: Graduation in any discipline.

• Passing Date: Graduation must be completed on or before 31st December 2026.

• Final-Year Students: Can apply provisionally, subject to passing graduation by 31st December 2026.

• IDD Candidates: The IDD passing date must also be on or before 31st December 2026. 

Is work experience required for SBI Clerk 2026?
