Odisha Sishu Sevika Job Profile 2025 

Sishu Sevikas will act as non-academic classroom helpers in Sishu Vatikas, supporting teachers in managing young children aged 5–6 years. Their responsibilities include creating a safe and nurturing environment, assisting with daily routines, maintaining hygiene, and providing learning materials like books and toys. Sebikas help children with smooth transitions between activities, comfort upset children, and accompany them when needed. They also ensure the cleanliness of classrooms and learning resources, supporting teachers to deliver effective preschool education and enhance overall learning outcomes. 

Odisha Sishu Sevika Eligibility Criteria 2025 

Candidates for the Odisha Sishu Sevika posts must be women and citizens of India, aged between 18 and 45 years as on 1st April of the year of engagement. They should be residents of the habitation or ward where the school is located, though applicants from nearby areas may be considered if no suitable candidate is available locally. Candidates must be literate, in good physical and mental health, and free from any contagious or chronic disease. Since Sishu Sevika will work with very young children, it is mandatory that they speak Odia along with the local or regional language. 

Odisha Sishu Sevika Selection Process 2025

The selection of Sishu Sevikas will be carried out by the School Managing Committees (SMC) at the school level, with the Block Education Officer (BEO) or their representative present during the resolution. Schools with Sishu Vatikas and eligible enrolment will be considered, and priority will be given to destitute or underprivileged women from ST/SC communities, poor unwed mothers, and divorcees or desertees. The SMC will verify documents and assess candidates for suitability, and engagement will be renewed annually based on fitness and satisfactory performance. The SMC also holds the authority to remove a Sevika in case of unsatisfactory service or unauthorized absence. 

Odisha Sishu Sevika Salary 2025 

Selected Sishu Sevikas will be provided an honorarium of ₹3,000 per month, which may be revised from time to time by the Government of Odisha. The honorarium will be paid for school working days and disbursed directly to the beneficiary’s bank account by the Directorate of Elementary Education. As this is a voluntary service engagement, no additional benefits or allowances are provided. The honorarium is intended to support the Sevika while ensuring dedicated assistance in managing preschool education and daily activities in Sishu Vatikas. 

How to Apply for Odisha Sishu Sevika Recruitment 2025? 

The engagement of Sishu Sevikas will be done directly by the School Managing Committees (SMC) at the school level, so there is no online application process. Interested and eligible women should contact their nearest Government Primary School or Anganwadi center once the official notification is released. The SMC, in consultation with the Block Education Officer (BEO), will verify documents and assess candidates for suitability.
